I didn't finish the book because I felt as if the author's style of writing wasn't well developed, and he had this habit of jumping from topic to topic. I think I got about halfway through the book before giving up on it. I'm curious on what you guys liked (or didn't like) about the book, and if I should finish it? Like does the style of writing make sense at the book goes on or is it simply a stylistic choice that some people prefer and others don't? I'm willing to give it another try, so I'd love to hear y'alls thoughts.

So its a solid book and the writing is great but the story is just really predictable. I was waiting for something else to happen but it went in a pretty straight line. The description of places, people and events were really well done but I do wish the actual plot had something more to chew on.

Second hand embarrassment stopped me from reading and I don't think I'll come back.

I bought the rest of his books when I finished reading this. This was such a unique look at a murder mystery and at parts it was super chilling. The mystery was so interesting, I'm not the best problem solver so I appreciated the converstations that were had that clarified their progress with the mystery.
I even lent it to a friend who finished it in 24 hours because she was so enthralled by the mystery. Cannot reccomend enough!

I want more short stories from Eliza Clark, this was utterly delicious. I honestly could not put the book down and I was thinking about it everytime I went to bed or to work or to hang out with friends. The King was such a fun read, I love weird main characters with no sense of morality, the Chinese takeaway chapter was so strange but in a good way, it actually has its own instagram page with weird pictures of the food and the posts devolve pretty quickly!
Could not recommend enough, I want more!!!

Deeply unsettling, I feel like you never get to know the main character, you only ever know her from outside perspectives that never truly want the best for her. Really enjoyed reading it but the ending felt empty.
