read this faster than i thought i would all because i could not bear to put it down. it was a lot easier to read than i assumed it would be, i have always been intrigued by other people's interpretation of hell/the underworld (so much so that i took a university course named "satan" not joking) and i would say that katabasis does not disappoint. in here, hell seems to be completely individual, tailored to the sinner/sojourner which is interesting enough on its own. i had little issue with the book though i did find my general enjoyment to dip a bit just over halfway through. i'd say i simply found the story to stall a bit at certain points. it did come back up in the last few pages, though.
TLDR, i enjoyed this very much it hit the spot i hoped it would.

the voice was refreshing and pretty comedic (to be expected). generally this book talks about important topics (apartheid, domestic violence, family...) from a perspective you don't get much of (imo) so i did enjoy that.
biggest issue i had was the whole timeline jumping thing. i understand that it was scene by scene, but every time i would have to stop reading and try to rework the timeline in my head cause new details about something i read seven chapters ago would come through. eventually i stopped caring about the timeline and just thought yeah ok i guess this happened at some point.
