I am hoping for a robot revolution that forces us humans to rethink out ways and compeletly remake the world for ecological harmony and sustainability.
I do wonder what that resolution and transition was like in this world. Was it bloody or conflict-ridden at all? What of the class dynamics among humans? I know this is meant to be cozy solar punk, but one cannot help but wonder what it takes to get there.

I can’t remember the last time I read a book that both frustrated me as a whole and awed me in moments. This book felt like a specific endeavor taken on by the author but not one that invites an audience. An experiment in format, and experiment in genre, an experiment in language to create both format and genre.
There were lines in this book that I thought were beautiful, thought provoking, mind reading. The section focused on Pizarnik could have come off like that useless section on whales in Moby Dick, but for me it was one of the highlights to be introduced to this writer and the way she thought. It illuminated the desire for this book’s experiments and I appreciated it.
Ultimately, I feel like I should be able to go into a book blind and have everything I need within the covers. But, this book felt like there should be a syllabus of coursework to do before reading. I would’ve enjoyed this book more if the author introduced her experiment as a prologue.

I only rarely dnf a book and I think this is the first time I dnfed a book simply because I was finding myself bored. I would like to explore more tellings of Norse mythology, but I just couldn’t get excited to read this one.

I remember either in high school or college being assigned a Shakespeare play. The version I read was for students and so on the left page was the text of the play and on the right page there was a “translation” or an explanation of each line of text.
I think this is the first time I’ve actively wanted to have that format for a novel.

I thought about DNFing this one but then I got to the paragraph that starts “I thought—and here to think really means to produce an image…” and then the author keeps using this structure of saying I thought and then what it really means as a way to make show how a thought process builds.
I don’t know if I’ll ever get to the plot of this or understand this book in its overall intention, but these writing choices are so intricate and thoughtful, so I’m going to keep going if only to experience more of them.
