One of the first thrillers I read that really captivated me and had me guessing what would happen next. I really enjoy Flynn’s writing and character building. Though it’s pretty dark and gruesome at times, this was a truly a fascinating look at character motives and what happens when witnesses look back at a crime once their understanding of memories and perspective have changed.

I was utterly transported while reading this story. The imagery, the characters, the setting, all of it made me feel like I was there. It was one of the first books that really got me into thrillers that have a splash of supernatural elements interwoven. The characters were phenomenal and despite the main character being annoying at times, the real story surrounded the unbreakable bond that friends form in spite of trauma. And the spooky parts of the story just made it more thrilling and alive.

What a captivating read! So fast paced that I was sure I could finish it in one sitting, hence I slowed down to make it last longer.
Generational trauma? Relatable. Being accused of things you didn’t do? Relatable. Emphasising the flaws in familial duties? COMPLETELY relatable.
Oyinkan is a fabulous writer, and I look forward to picking up more reads from her.
