Winston as a character is rough, and mildly annoying if I'm being honest. The world and the efforts of oppression are fascinating though, which for me usually isn't enough because I'm a character first reader but the plot is plotting enough to keep my attention

This is going to sound so silly, but only now have I realized that it’s “Old-speak” and “New-speak.” I have been reading the latter as “News-speak” because I figured so much of it has to do with the news and rewriting the news and controlling the narrative 😭😭 Gonna go get my eyes checked brb

I went into it with low expectations wanting to hate it because I saw all the hype. Normally I dont buy into if its 'viral' or not but this one for some reason just got under my skin.

When I tell you it hooked me and I am now SO obsessed, I'm embarrased by how much I love it, I am not lying. I was 15 when Twilight came out - we all know how that turned out for the fanbase- and I think FW is the only other book I have been that obsessed with since.

Its super fun and clever from a political aspect. I would suggest it if you are interested.

this is one of my life reading goals. Since i heard about it, read some parts in high school and saw the references in some of my favorites movies i’ve wanted to read this. However, i’m scared, i think i have to read a lot of things before reading this and also i don’t know if i’m going to understand it. If anyone that has read it can recommend books that i should read before this and some other things to understand it better i would really appreciate it.
