My entire heart got ripped out and then lovingly put back with this book. I won't lie, I sometimes skip the author's notes at the beginning or the end. I didn't this time and I'm so thankful I didn't. It meant so much more. It meant SO much to me for reasons I won't get into. What a brave fucking author to put your heart and soul into a book. I adore the characters. I loved Cassandra's monster. When they said goodbye to one another, I was sobbing. I will forever love Ryan and Callum. I eat up any moment to go back to them and love them all over again. I really hope there is a book in the works for Vox and Naomi. Not only am I super into whatever is happening there but it gives me more time with all of these characters that I have grown to love and cherish. I love how Alexandra can make you laugh and cry in the same sentence. This is written so well that I can't even begin to express it in words. I took notes in my ARC, and I wish I could post them here but I want you to read this for yourself and find a little taste of home. Thank you for letting me read this.

Well... I don't know if I'm just wanting to say I hated it because it hurt me in the end or not... but damn. That really hurt. I'm left unsatisfied. I want to know if anyone at all lived. I hate that it won. I hate that it all ended without them getting to say they loved each other again. Fuck. Wow. That REALLY sucks and hurts someone who is an empathic person.

I actually have even more things to say after sitting here for a few minutes. It is heartbreaking that Ruth did nothing wrong and I mean, we are assuming she is dead. Other Mommy killed her. Then I'm assuming, since it wasn't said, since we were through the eyes of an 8-year-old, that Mom and Daddo are dead too. It's devastating. They didn't get to say they loved each other or that they were sorry. Ursula sucked, plain and simple but I still felt some sympathy for her. Russ... that poor man. He was cheated on repeatedly. He was Ursula's punching bag. She was selfish in ways that are astounding. Russ was trying so hard and he raised that poor little girl only for her to turn her back on him. I get she was confused but Jesus Christ... that was painful. Every time she wouldn't answer him, I felt my heart breaking. Ruth just TRIED to help her daughter and her family. She didn't do anything wrong. Bela... god, this poor sweet girl. I know this book is about SO much more than just a haunted house and a demon or ghost that wants to be reincarnated... it's about substance abuse, parenthood, growing up, stunted growth, and maturity. It's about the power of secrets and your actions. In the car Ursula was saying she was getting her dues and baby girl... yeah. I think so but you pulled everyone down with you.
