A fantastic, sad, inspiring, well-researched masterpiece. As someone who only knew John Green from his romance novels, this was magnificent. The book is not only incredibly well written (he narrates the audio book as well which was excellent) but is an astoundingly informative account of the history of TB up to and including today.

Green spends page after page connecting the dots for the readers while not overwhelming them with unnecessarily complicated language. I enjoyed every second of this cross-section between health, politics, capitalism, greed, and hope.

A lovely novel!! This book was such a nice read,, with much more going on than the back cover lets on. It is a far deeper book than perhaps expected; I was surprised how often I drew parallels to political situations occurring today. I particularly enjoyed the authors writing style as well, it was someone who I felt knew their own voice!! Lastly, I was surprised how funny it was, I laughed multiple times on my own which I don't often do!! Fantastic book

    🏴‍☠️ debate

Is the pirating books debate all over anyone else’s social media?

I’m very against pirating books but there are more people defending it than I thought, and more of my irl friends do it that I thought… Am I being privileged by saying you shouldn’t?

Edit- I am not anti piracy, I’m pro piracy for most things, books have always been an exception for me! I also know there are exceptions within books as well, as with everything, but the vast majority of book piracy isn’t that.

What a harrowing, introspective, emotional tale. As both a current teacher and the son of a teacher, the emphasis on the freedom education delivers was truly powerful. Tata Westover is both a brilliant writer in her aesthetics as well as her ability to tell a story, she made me feel I was a part of her world, from Idaho to Cambridge. This story was also particularly apropos in our political climate - I often found myself drawing clear links to her father views and the current US administration. Overall, this was one of the best books I have ever read, both in subject matter, depth, and story telling.
