What’s your favorite color AND a book you like that’s cover is that same color?🤔

Not loving it, but not mad at it either. Still curious to see where this goes, but I have to admit, I was hoping to like this book more.

“Didn’t you know the ocean grants wishes?”

A beautiful story about trauma, grief, remembering, revenge, love, sacrifice, and creating something anew amidst an attempt to erase your people

The way this bounces around different time periods was disorienting at first but after realizing it, it became a beautiful component of storytelling and understanding past historians. The way it disorients the reader might also be purposeful reflection of the entire experience, existence, lack of remembering, and origin of the Wajinru

The afterword on the audiobook about telephone and the retellings of The Deep was perhaps one of my favorite parts of the experience of reading the book. I almost wish this had been a foreword to the book because it would have made me appreciate and understand the story in a whole new context. It makes me want to reread it and dive into the other versions of this origin myth.

I will think of this story every time a hurricane forms

  • BIPOC bookish podcasts?

I'm looking for BIPOC bookish podcasts, those facilitated by BIPOC podcasters and/or those that do a good job focusing on BIPOC authors and authors from outside the U.S. Anyone have good recs?

Cutest story ever! Food + queer romance is a sweet spot for anyone really. I love the character art at the end too. Could easily be a 5⭐️ read but I'd like to see Marcus interact more with his own friends and learn their names too.

Great story arc! I enjoyed the variety of perspectives and seeing what Gotham means to the members of Batman Inc.

  • Do you ever dislike an audiobook on the basis of the narrator?

I’ve been listening to an audiobook lately that has a narrator whose voice just sets my teeth on edge. I have had a couple bad ones but this one is making me consider going out and buying a physical copy or just straight up DNF. Has anyone else here had this issue? It feels like a very easy thing to fix (read the book instead of listening to it) but now I’ve got the narrator’s tone and cadence stuck in my head.
