This is the first DC Compact I bought (and read) but collected two more before finally getting the chance to read it. What a great intro to the series! I've gotten used to reading fully written novels about Vamps or watching shows and there's always a sense of romanticism to them even if they've been adapted to a modern setting.

This series was refreshing in that it felt like it fit within the universe of Vampires of El Norte or what I expected from Immortal Pleasures. Cowboys + Vampires are an intersection I didn't realize I was missing and will definitely be continuing this series! I also like the variety of Vamps (subspecies) and hope to learn more about their internal politics. I'm def team "death to the old world Vamps" but only cuz the new 'Blade' type Vamps are cooler.

As far as DC Compacts are concerned, I have to agree that they're not the best format if you're an art lover. The quality and size are great for the price you're getting but something about the matte finish proves to be a disservice to the art.

    Around Issue #6

It was around the Devil in the Sand story arc that I noticed a few of these characters bleeding together...

Listen, I LOVE this art style. Its gritty and has a certain artistry to it that I would be terrible at describing but I understand that an artist's gotta run out of juice at some point. Theres three white guys that are either law men or adjacent that I can't keep track of and two women with jet black hair. Would it have been so terrible to give a guy a scar or one of the women a different hair style at least. My memory isn't always the best with new fictitious worlds—especially with this many characters to keep track of. I have watched full length (not that 10ep crap) show seasons where I don't remember any of the character names, but I could at least describe them. These characters (esp the men) all look too similar.

    End of Issue #3

So happy I'm finally getting to this! Im really digging the art style, it just fits so well with the violence that comes with Vampires. AND THE VIOLENCE IS SO GOOD!!!!!! Mixing the Wild West and Prohibition timelines together lends itself to more violence (cowboys and maybe the mafia). Pearl, I'm rootin for ya girlie.

Cutest story ever! Food + queer romance is a sweet spot for anyone really. I love the character art at the end too. Could easily be a 5⭐️ read but I'd like to see Marcus interact more with his own friends and learn their names too.

  • Voting for community Quests, inspired by Lists NOW OPEN! (4/1/2026)

Context: As Pagebound grows, we have been brainstorming sustainable ways to create more Quests that the community is eager to see. We're trialing a new idea for a community-voted Quest, inspired by a List. More info in the last post I made in Founder's Announcements.

For the past week, Pagebound Royalty members have submitted nominations for Lists to inspire Quests. Jennifer and I have gone through and ensured all the Lists you'll be voting on meet our Quest guidelines. There are 86 Lists eligible for you to vote on, and you can find them in this spreadsheet.

There will be 3 winning Lists selected from different genre categories. You can vote for up to 3 lists from different genres. Submit your votes via this form through end of day April 8th. Take note of the Quest type when voting (Column C in the spreadsheet)! Many nominated Lists share a theme but vary in length. Preference for a Side vs Main Quest could help you decide which to vote for. Most Lists will be Side Quests, but Lists with many books (~60+) will be Main Quests.

The creators of the winning Lists will be able to accept/reject. If they accept, we will create a Quest inspired by their List, adapting the title & book list as necessary to fit Quest constraints. If they decline, we'll ask the runner-up! The resulting Quest will not be open to book additions since there will not be anyone actively maintaining the book list (similar to when a Main Quest hits its 100 book cap and is closed to further additions).

If this is a good experience for the community, we plan to run this List nomination + voting process quarterly. Our goals here are to encourage quality List-making, give the entire community a voice in Quest creation in a sustainable way, acknowledge our Royalty supporters, and create some exciting, diverse Quests!

Thanks for voting! Jennifer & Lucy
