  • What’s the book that made you fall in love with reading?

For me, it’s The Lost Years of Merlin by T.A. Barron.

I was never an avid reader as a child but when I was 17, I had an English professor that really inspired me to grab a book and just start reading. Prior to reading Merlin, I was reading the popular titles from Murakami, Yanagihara, Ishiguro etc.

8 years later, I realized that I should not have started my reading journey with their books, especially A Little Life HAHAHA (still can’t bring myself to reread this one). I was 17, too young and dumb to comprehend the depth of these author’s works and with not fully understanding came the discontent, the unsatisfaction after each and every book.

It was only when read The Lost Years that I really experienced the magic of reading. Then, it was mostly fantasy books from there.

SIDE STORY: I never meant to buy The Lost Year of Merlin, I only bought it because my bestfriend was buying a book from an online store and she needed someone to help shoulder the shipping fee. I bought the cheapest book in the store and now it’s one of the most important pieces of literature in my life.
