This was fine. A lot of the individual stories were engaging, and the writing is good, but it never really came together. This is kind of like a novel in stories - all of the characters are interconnected - but it never felt like the author really got to the point.

A sobering look at how the bureaucracy of apartheid in Israel and Palestine literally kills. Devastating.

Loved the sense of place in this Philadelphia novel, and I really enjoyed the reading experience. THE DAYS OF AFREKETE starts with Liselle, a Black woman married to a white man who is throwing a dinner party after her husband lost a political race. The tension and contradictions unfold as we're introduced to Liselle's backstory and her former college girlfriend, Selena. I blazed through this but also wanted more. WHAT HAPPENS!!!!
