As I'm entering my early to mid 30s, I find I have a hard time wanting to read books where the main characters are younger than me, especially if it's a romance novel. I just started a new book (What the River Knows by Isabel Ibanez) because it was recommended for fans of The Mummy movie but seeing it's tagged YA and that the fmc is 17 makes me not want to continue.
How do you all approach reading books with characters that are younger than you?

If I could go back in time and give this book to 15-year-old me who was obsessed with Twilight and The Hunger Games, I would in a heartbeat! Entertaining, spicy, and predictable- this book is a fun read that evokes most "young heroine who's tough but shy but sexy but also secretly super powerful" tropes but it does it well enough that I didn't care. Truly it does feel like Fourth Wing with wolves instead of dragons.

I really loved this book! Emily Henry always knocks it out of the park, but this one reminded me of how I felt reading her first book, Beach Read. I was so invested and cried and snorted and got all warm and tingly. Highly recommend!
