She was a living reverie for me: the mere sight of her sparked an almost infinite range of fantasy, from Greek to Gothic, from vulgar to divine.

That was a looong chapter 1 and for someone who reads by chapters, I felt so winded by the end of it. And I donât mean that in a bad way because I was so engrossed in their class that I feel like studying Greek now too lol!

Iâve just started reading, and I canât help but notice strong similarities with R.F. Kuangâs work. For example, Professor Morrow reminds me a lot of Professor Jiang in The Poppy War. He only takes on a handful of students, is shunned by the rest of the academy, and you need something truly special to catch his attention. On top of that, Professor Morrowâs class focuses on translation and litterature, which immediately brings Babel to mind.

It may be historical fantasy but this has radicalized me even more and has opened my eyes more on just how colonialism runs deep, how the ideas and themes tackled in the book are still existing and relevant today.

Ok, I feel I might be stretching a bit with this one but if its possible, I'd really like some sort of place or an option to save or mention my favourite quotes from the books I read. I'm not a very technical person lol so I don't know how this will work but some section where I, or perhaps everybody, can add or highlight their favourite lines underneath a specific book, like nearby the forum area? If there already exists some option like that, then do inform me cuz maybe it just slipped my notice heh Having said that, if anyone would like to share some of their favourite quotes from recent books or otherwise, I'd love that :D
