I read Tuesdays with Morrie in a little over a day. This past saturday I was journaling in the living room while my mom played the movie adaptation on the tv and watched with my dad. After half-watching/listening to the whole movie, I decided to read the book it was based on and my mom handed me a physical copy that she had recently purchased. So I brought the physical copy with me on my flight that night to NY. The next day, after a recovery nap, I began to read this book. How fitting that I'm finishing it right now, 4AM on a tuesday (jetlag oops). I really really liked this book, for its simplicity and its realness. Tuesdays with Morrie is comforting, it feels like a warm embrace. And while the life lessons in it are simple and you might think, oh I don't need to read a book to learn these things that I already know, these lessons feel especially important when you know that an old professor wanted to share them with the world as he was dying of ALS. So many of us live our lives believing our time is limitless, death is so far from our minds it feels like we're immune to it. We know about these life lessons, like the importance of loving & giving to others, of really being present with people, but how often do we really really embody these values or even believe in them? And here we have Morrie, who is face to face with his own death, and even then he is still learning, growing, and sharing--about what is really important in life. I've honestly never read a book where I've finished it feeling so connected & grateful to the people in it, but like if I could meet Morrie in person I would give this mans a big fat hug and probably cry lol. I think Tuesdays with Morrie will definitely be a book that I'll go back to even after finishing it, and knowing that I only found this book through my mom's recommendation makes me feel even more connected to it. 5/5 ❤️
