Breastfeeding. I am finally free! I have such mixed feelings about this book. You can tell how this was intended and this is incredibly allegorical in depicting the socio-economic classes. And how, heavily relevant it is to see how this plays out with the people in power and how people will continuously sit them down in those thrones again and again. Corruption bleeds, it is not inherited but taught. However, there is a nagging thought in me that there is a certain emptiness in between the lines that I can’t ignore. There were plenty of moments where you ask yourself, why you are here and witnessing all of it. But you cannot look away, such is life isn’t it? Everything is absurdly fucked up to the point of absurdity. That awkward laugh that you give when all goes to shit. I understand the social commentary this depicts how it lead to the very moment up until the end. On how certain characters ended up the way they did. I did laugh in certain parts but it didn’t win me over. The one character that I liked well… I also understood what that meant without giving it away. Would I recommend this? No. You cannot fault their writing because they are talented however, it is a performance, to impress not to express.

You walk into a story and know that things will absolutely wrong, but you do it anyway. I cannot describe how much my face had twisted and have cursed to the high heavens on what I have read. I came in reading this novella absolutely blind. I am at a loss on what to say. But medieval horror intertwined with religion, it is written upon visually immersive scenes right before you than can visit your dreams as you go on. Although, I cannot help but feel a twinge of sadness towards the end. Even though it was only 52 pages long, I did grow fond of the main character as well. I recommend this if you are not a fan of horror but can carry yourself with gore and body horror really well. In between the lines you can feel me wanting to say expletives.
