What keeps this from being a 4 star read for me is simply the pacing. For me personally, there were many moments where the plot dragged in ways I wanted to skip over or I found myself disinterested.
However, I do really like the stories being told here. The characters are vibrant, I find myself feeling strongly about every person whose point of view we get to experience.
There are many threads being woven throughout, and I find myself very intrigued, I am excited to pick up the next book and see how all of them develop.

I started this book off and was immediately completely confused. I thought to myself, "what did the back of the book say again? What is this novel about?" I didn't look for it, I didn't search up an explanation. I could feel this was what the book wanted me to feel. To be lost in the words of Piranesi as he writes to me, the reader.
This book is not tragic in any way, but it has left me crying. There is something unidentifiable in the quality of this book, the nature and shape of this story. It's beautiful, and maybe it is as simple as that. A book I will think about for many years, I am sure.
