4.25; i’m glad i took another chance on emily henry after the diSASTER that was happy place. maybe it’s the winter loneliness hammering ruthlessly away at me, but this was a fuzzy-down-to-my-toes level cutesy and warm read.

3.25; the author’s note did more for me than the actual book content

“one day, we will be born again when you’re not there. because this land knows us. she is our mother. when we die, we’re just resting in her womb until the darkness is cleared.”
my heart hurts. everything hurts.

just clearing out my physical tbr don’t mind me… all in all wasn’t a horrendous book, but not stellar by any means. it had its heartfelt moments, though it lacked much depth. really, the only thing i particularly liked was the way the POVs were presented (in full chapters rather than switching off every couple pages lol); also spotted some grammatical errors, too. that’s an oopsie on the editor’s part.

nope nope nope nope nope… i put this book on my tbr in 2022, and oh boy have i changed since then.
two rich white teenagers fall in love over a boring game of assassin during wedding celebrations in the summer. i don’t know why i even gave this a try.
