A collection of the pilot books for popular series, for those of us who love to follow a character's journey for as long as an author will let us! Some of the below series have heavily debated starting points and book read orders--in those cases the pilot was selected based on what seems to be the most popular approach.

Honestly disappointing read but kinda understandable considering that the man was in his 90s. Would not recommend, adds nothing of note. Go for some of his earlier works

This was disappointing as it had errors in it (especially relating to Islam, quotations, and historical periods) and some opinions that do not seem to follow the trail of thought of arguments at all and many presumptive comments with no reasoning explored? Also, a lot of the questions related to changes in western sexual organization today didn't really receive analytical comments from him...they were merely descriptive of the facts which was not very exciting. But then my buddy-read partner looked into it and we found that this was written while the anthropologist was 90 and sick without his notes and books on hand because he got roped into the contract?? So I am going to blame the assistant on this one. Probably tarnished the man's reputation a bit by allowing an error ridden work to go through without edits.

Extremely well researched and consequently extremely eye opening. Must be assigned in schools in India and Pakistan both. In particular, it illuminates upon Gandhi, Nehru, and Mountbatten's political ideologies and how they were perhaps the gateway to the bloody nature of the partition. Is great for contextualizing Kashmir, does not shy away from blatantly calling out the fraud of its occupation, and even for Indo-China conflicts. The work also offers intriguing psychological profiles of political leaders like Jinnah and Ambedkar. Well done and easy to read.
