so far this is very silly and simple, but it has a certain charm... I can't explain š feels like a wattpad story, but one of the good ones.

I can already tell this author thinks swearing is the equivalent of giving the main character a personality lmao

this book could've been shorter
I love rooke sheās the only likeable character in this book. the author really committed to the enemies to lovers bit, but she forgot we need to like both parties involved to root for the couple. we grow to love rooke and just get mad at how she gets constantly mistreated by soren, and he has nothing to show for himself just very basic "oh he doesn't let his people starve" stuff. I expect A LOT of groveling from him in the next book.

What the title says. I've always seen people online refer to themselves as "mood readers" but for some reason never looked it up until now. The definitions I'm seeing online seem to describe it as pretty much "reading whatever you feel like," but how is that different than regular reading? Does everyone not do that? What is the alternative? If you call yourself a mood readers (or if you purposefully don't), how do you define what that is? Does it have to do with caring more about vibes and atmosphere than tropes and plot? Thought I'd ask since I've seen some people put it in their bios here!
Edit to add: Okay, you've all convinced me I'm a mood reader! The general consensus I'm seeing in the comments is that a mood reader is someone who doesn't follow a strict TBR list and just reads whatever sounds good at the time rather than making a plan and sticking to it. I always have at least 10-15 books going at once MINIMUM because my TBR is literally where books go to dieāif a book sounds good, I start it immediately no matter what I'm already reading. I don't know the last time outside of a series I planned out what books I was going to read next and stuck to it in any meaningful way š«£

this book is reheated darklina nachos BUT I love darklina so I liked it lmao.
it doesn't have the enemies to lovers element, but it has that mentor/mentee vibe of "I'm new to this and you're the one who's going to guide me through all of it."
I will say the writing gets repetitive at times, like the author is not subtle when she wants to drive a point home, but it didn't bother me that much. there's also a few plot holes BUT I'm willing to overlook them bc I enjoyed these character's dynamic too much and I want to see more of them no matter how shoddily written it getsā¤ļø
