The writing style is so bad- I'm sorry. The constant redundancy. Here are some examples: "She scowled in confusion. She didn't understand what that meant." OH, thank you, I definitely needed that second sentence.
"She wasn't sure what game Phantasma was playing by forcing players into these groupings, but she was sure it wasn't in order to help them win- which meant trusting anyone here was not a strategic move." PLEASE let me have one thought on my own. I do not need to be baby-fed information.
And if that wasn't bad enough, she is now info-dumping instead of starting the first trail.

Warning: may induce Obama-era nostalgia
Michelleās memoir is not what I expected going in - we spend most of our time with her in her childhood and pre-presidential years, and this is a very conscious choice. She wants us to know who she is as a woman, not as the First Lady or Obamaās wife. I have a much greater appreciation for the Obama family and the journey they went on to make it to the whitehouse; Michelle humanizes all members of her family and lets us in on who they are as people.
In her efforts to make herself known, Michelle includes many stories and anecdotes, not all of them particularly relevant. It felt like work returning to this memoir at times, which did affect my enjoyment, but it was overall a worthwhile journey Iām happy I completed.
