This book has me giggling, kicking my feet - it was SO cute, funny, romantic! I love that Cassie, the FMC, is a broke 30+ year old artist and that Frederick, is a polite, confused vampire from the 1700s who is trying to learn how to live in modern society leading to so many funny moments. This book was so unserious but I really loved it so much! I still have so many questions that I feel went unanswered so this book wasn’t perfect but overall, something I would reread for sure!

Oh I really enjoyed this - I finished it in like 4-5 hours. It hooks you right from the beginning, although you have no idea what’s going on, the puzzles, the story is really easy to follow and as a visual person, I really appreciate the drawings and diagrams. It literally felt like I was watching a mystery thriller movie this whole time. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

This was SO cute! There were many elements that reminded me of The House in the Cerulean Sea: outsider having to gain the trust of special children, magical, subtle romance, found family - just with a witchy twist. Loved the FMC and MMC, loved seeing the diverse characters of different ethnicities and 30+ year old main characters. Overall, a cozy, not too serious, wholesome read!

if you’re not a fan of Kimberly Lemming’s books and shenanigans then you won’t enjoy this, but I did! Super short read for the monster romance girlies

“Remembering is not always a light shown into darkness, sometimes… it’s a claw reaching out and dragging you back.”
Dang, there’s a lot to unpack here. To me this was more dramatic/suspenseful than scary. I really enjoyed the drama between the family, it was messy, ugly, and hurtful. My heart hurts for the mom and for all the women out there driven to madness thus hurting those around them and starting a cycle of trauma and “fighting demons”. I really liked the FMC Clio, she was spoiled, smart-mouthed, bratty and I liked the romance in this book - it felt realistic. I highly recommend listening to the audiobook, the VA is AMAZING.

“Anticipation is a gift. Perhaps there is none greater. Anticipation is born of hope. Indeed it is hope’s finest expression. In hope’s loss, however, is the greatest despair.”
Yeah the ending triggered a creeping panicky feeling in my chest, imagine falling falling falling for thousands thousands thousands thousands of years, searching - ugh

When I find myself in a reading slump I love to read T. Kingfisher, as something of a palate cleanser I guess. I love the world of the White Rat, but I'm finding this a bit repetitive. I'm not disappointed yet, but I feel it brewing. Halla and I would be friends though 🌞

My first book on my October TBR list and highly recommend the audiobook - the voice narrator is AMAZING, she’s so good! So far I’ve been enjoying it 👻
