Uncomfortable and triggering, yet in a good, thought-provoking way. To acknowledge that many people (maybe majority?) carry a certain degree of complexity with them. That sometimes (maybe often?) it's impossible to cut clear distinction between good and bad, without any nuance. Not accept, especially regarding actions that caused undeniable harm. But to acknowledge, take that under consideration.
And maybe acknowledgement doesn't have to be followed by forgiveness. Maybe people change. Maybe we can love and care for people with twisted past, without accepting or forgiving what they did, yet acknowledging that they changed, that they are changing. Maybe...
