" I'd like to know what it feels like to erase your old life. Do you have any regrets about leaving it behind?
Dev laughed. Why would I have any regrets?
You don't miss anything? Your family? Friends?
You can't miss what you don't remember. Besides, if our old lives were worth missing, then we wouldn't have drifted away from them, would we?"

It took me much longer than I anticipated to read this book. While the concepts presented were interesting with regards to the magic system, gender and socio-political environment, I struggled with the pace and the multiple narrators. Not sure if it was perhaps because it's the author's debut novel. But I felt some whiplash every time I read the book. I think I enjoyed it, though I'm not so stoked to continue reading the series
