Recs if you like The Selection...

Books where someone, at some point, lets out a breath they didn’t know they were holding. I fully intend to update this every time I come across this line, but let me know which ones are missing in the comments!

[BREAK GLASS IN CASE OF SOCIETAL COLLAPSE]

Dystopia-core library books you inhaled in middle school on the bus so you could talk about them during lunch period.

Or: books that had an entire generation of kids convinced they were going to develop powers and be taken to a secret government facility

Allow me to set the scene:

It’s 2 AM on a school night but you only have 100 pages left. You will power through. Forget the math test you have first period. This is your priority. And you must know how the book ends.

I don’t know what sort of millennial catnip these 2000s YA authors put in these books, but let me tell you, my “baby millennial” self was addicted.

Pagebound Millennials: what YA were you reading?

your 2016 book blog called it misses you

Cult classics, guilty pleasures, popcorn reads, addictive stories in dire need of an editor, just some good old fun — these are books with an average enjoyment rating that is at least 0.5 stars higher than the average quality rating. This is a purely objective criterion and doesn’t necessarily reflect my personal opinion on quality or enjoyment of these books. Suggestions welcome! Please also inform me when I messed up the math/the ratings changed, that’s bound to happen sooner or later.

Dystopian matchmaking: romance and love stories that happen against all odds

Everyone knows George Orwell or Aldous Huxley. Their works are considered to be the staples of dystopia stories.

But are they?

Most of the people know Octavia E. Butler or Margaret Atwood. They showed the feminine side of dystopia. But this subgenre of science fiction have much more to offer.

Yes, you find here all the famous ladies too but I'll do my best to find even more. So I hope the fellow Boundlings will help too💗

Clean and closed door romance

A roundup of YA books that were popular back in the days of us baby millennials. For anyone feeling nostalgic for the 2010’s. Draw a little mustache on your finger because you’re so quirky and get reading like you already finished your homework for the night!

Based on my favorite podcast Rereading the Revolution. The hosts reread and recap popular 2000s-2010s novels from Divergent to Looking for Alaska.

The list is in order of oldest episodes to most recent. I will try and update when new episodes drop.

So take a walk down memory lane with these nostalgic picks, or find something new that sparks your inner teenager! Please give the podcast a listen, I think they’re a great bookish podcast to support

"an imagined world or society in which there is great suffering or injustice, typically one that is totalitarian or post-apocalyptic. many of the people lead dehumanized and fearful lives"

These books defined my childhood and still hold up to this day. Dystopian stories have been so influential in my life and as I get older my perspective continues to shift and the book becomes more and more dynamic. Deeper themes are embedded in books for kids, and these ones sparked deeper reflections for me -- as well as just being fun! A bunch of these aren't typical "dystopian" books and they span across genres but they all evoke the same feeling for me. I will keep updating as I think of more! Also I literally begged my parents for a bow and arrow after I read the Hunger Games lolllll

For the readers out there who were on the internet with no restrictions in the early 2010s XD

Please comment which book was your favorite during this era!

The first book in a series.

Clean romance books to read when you're craving some romance but without all the spice and f bombs. Books in this list can be for ages 10 to 18! Some of these books are also just fun, with a touch of romance. Let me know if you think any other books should be added!

Books centered around reality TV (any genre) sorry, some of these are originally in French and there may not be a translation yet
