Books that are part memoir part another genre: in a way that blends multiple mediums and/or themes in unique and engaging ways. Magical, explosive and memorable narratives expressed with creativity and depth. Books that inspire me to write more.

in honor of disability pride month, here is a series on the colours of the flag! the last (but certainly not least) colour on this flag is black, or grey, depending on who you ask. these colours are the most powerful of the bunch, since they represent those in the disability community who have died due to ableism, eugenics, suicide, illness and abuse. books in this list will be fiction and non-fiction. as always, please feel free to comment ur recs!

If you’re not familiar with Mychal, he is the new host of The Reading Rainbow and he has been spreading “library joy” on social media for years. Mychal has a book club on Fable that is for a more mature audience than The RR. He has posted a new book monthly since March 2024. I have enjoyed every book I’ve read from his club! It's towards the end of disability pride month, so I thought I would recommend some of the nonfiction books that I've either used for my studies or would handsell as a bookseller. If you have any other suggestions, let me know!
