This list is a community project, I asked in the club and received multiple suggestions which I then added onto a list: fiction and nonfiction, fantasy, contemporary, sci-fi, the main theme is just hope. Some people said their recommendation might not fit very well but I added it anyways.

Also, in the og post, I mentioned The Good Place and if people have recommendations tending to that, so some books are related to that.

Suggestions always welcome! SFF books written to be humorous, satiric, or otherwise meant to entertain and make readers laugh. (This was a quest idea i was thinking about, but I'm not committed enough to this to make it)

I'm specifically going to be adding books from Quests and readalongs that go past the July start date and match at least one of these title prompts: Periodic Table, Familial Terms, Rainbow of Words (also Joseph's coat), Numerical Titles, Titular Counting 5+, Pun in the Title, and First & Last Name in the Title. I love it when titles break the naming conventions of books. I’ve had enough a blank of blank and blank, I want something NEW, something STRANGE, something that immediately makes me check out the synopsis with the excitement of a dog who has seen a squirrel 🐿️

Subverting expectations and getting meta in the genre sandbox! Books that play with genre, subvert the traditional, switch things up with language and form, offer a new angle for a retelling, or mash and mix things up before spitting out a brand new tale. Includes works that are mainstream now but were considered a subversion of the familiar in the time period in which they were published. Suggestions always welcome!

A collection of well-written sapphic genre books where the "sapphicness" is more than just having a woman with a male love interest who happens to be bisexual. None of the books here have an f/m ending (unless there are multiple protagonists and at least one have an f/f relationship)

I'll break these lists down into the total number of words in the title to make planning easier. This is an on going list and always open for recommendations

Do you, like me, often find yourself looking at a book cover thinking, "Y'all are doing waaay too much." Why are book covers so dang extra nowadays? Here are some books that appeal to me simply because they have covers that don't look like a 19 year old with Photoshop barfed a bunch of design elements on a book and called it a day.
