Recs if you like The Library at Mount Char...

Standalone fantasy books that won't make you invest your life in a dozen installments

The SCP is an organization that Secures, Contains, and Protects our world against anomalous objects, entities, and phenomena. Be advised: these books contain such SCPs that have escaped confinement and have caused havoc and destruction. Read at your own peril. And remember to document your findings.

Maybe the people are magical, maybe the library is. Maybe these aren’t as fictional as they seem.

Recommendations encouraged!

books that fracture, remake, and defy the rules of time, space, memory, and idea.

Bibliophilia at its best - books about books, readers, libraries, bookstores!

the gurls NEED to read horror books 💋 i wouldn’t say these are all horror but that’s left to the reader to make that assumption

Recs are from r horrorlit. I have not read them, but thought it would be a fun concept for you and me.

(let me know if any suggestions are egregious)

#backrooms #dreamy #weird #strange #surreal

(Broadly defined) Poetic, dreamy, strange, odd fantasy/sci-fi. Doesn’t have to be all of these things at once, mostly it’s fantasy/sci-fi that ‘breaks the norm’ (in style, prose and story)- whatever that means. Or books wonderfully odd, in any sort of way.

I’m not such a fast reader, neither do I have the golden touch finding only books that fit in this list… ‘Breaking the norm’ can be seen as rather subjective, so I’d love any suggestion that you feel fit (and why do you feel they fit?).

A collection of stories about women whose obscure knowledge, forbidden studies, forgotten traditions, or relentless curiosity become the thing standing between the world and disaster.

stories about libraries or bookshops that bring magic to life, either literally or figuratively. bonus points if it has cozy, slice of life vibes!

always welcome to suggestions (っᵔ◡ᵔ)っ

Stories that follow the New Weird genre. Adventures that mix reality with fantasy, horror, science fiction, and literary fiction. Each a distinct and unique story to envelope your mind.

fantasical libraries and whimsical bookshops, these books add a magical charm to familiar bookish places

Existential Dread Galore. Horror so mind bending that will leave you ponder meaning of all things. Horrors from beyond time, reality & universe.

hold on tight as we explore a myriad of alternate realities and multiverses

Is it fantasy? Horror? Magical realism? Sci-fi? Litfic? It's best not to ask questions.

The top 100 fantasy novels according to the r/fantasy list as voted on by the community - this includes series (represented by the first book in the series) and standalones.

The list is in order with Middle Earth ( represented by Lord of the rings) being number 1 going down to the 100th.

(Note: Mistborn is position 8 while Cosmere is position 35 - as Mistborn is within the Cosmere I lumped it in with the 35th position so it is lower down than on the original list)

you definitely don’t want to babysit the kids in these books!! these are some bad kids, some might even say evil kids, like they’re possessed by demons or something, think Damien from The Omen or the twins in Goodnight Mommy

as always, taking any and all suggestions!
