That would be awesome! I was really curious about The Spirit Bares Its Teeth and Masters of Death
masters of death if so difficult to explain other than it’s an experience. there’s a find family of supernatural creatures who are trying to figure out how the ghost died so that they can stop him from hunting a house the vampire real estate agent is trying to sell. and it leads them on this path to figuring out how to beat Death (character) in a supernatural game. definitely one where you just have to let the book do its thing and trust the process, and imo so well worth it for the emotional impact it gives.
the spirit bares its death is about a boy named silas who is sent to a type of finishing school for girls born with purple eyes that have the ability to commune with the dead. it’s has some heavy themes but it is classified as YA, and very impactful for story development and characters.
they’re both 5⭐️ reads for me, i inhaled them both!

What does that mean hard vs. soft magic system?
they’re terms used to define if there are a. rules and restrictions to the magic in a fantasy world (hard) or b. if the magic is more free flowing and available for use with little explanation to how it functions (soft) ☺️
Ahh ok that makes sense. Thank you! I like both, but sometimes I just want a world where magic is magic. I don't need an entire chapter to explain to me how the world's magic works. Just say magic and I'll understand.

Where The Dark Stands Still incorporates Eastern European folklore and follows a girl who has magic, in a town where magic is outlawed. The forest near her town houses magical creatures and there she makes a deal with the devil of the forest to serve him a year in order to rid herself of magic. It’s got a romance subplot but i wouldn’t call it romantasy because i think the fantasy is the primary focus. atmospheric and a bit gothic in vibes!
The City of Stardust follows a girl who is trying to break a family curse and gets caught up in a whirlwind of issues as she tries to find her mum. it’s contemporary but there are alternate realms and it can be a bit dark in places. it’s a bit all over the place (it’s the authors debut) but despite that i did still enjoy it!
