These are books that will help you expand your worldview and understand what people go through. Some books are fictional, diving into the questions of power, relationships, privilege, and struggle. Others are true stories, bearing witness to real events and experiences that happen world-wide. All of these books exemplify the importance of storytelling as a means to understanding each other and our world!

The Carnegie's are the United Kingdom's major children's book awards. There are awards for both writing and illustration. This list is for the Carnegie Medal for Writing, which is chosen by children's librarians for exceptional books written in English for children and young people. The medals are awarded by CILIP and the Youth Libraries Group. The mission statement: "To champion librarians to inspire and empower the next generation to create a better world through books and reading."

Books I cannot recommend enough. Books I cannot shut up about! These are some of my favorite reads and I can't wait to reread them!
