Recs if you like It Lasts Forever and Then It's Over...
never the same river twice
books that are so changed by the end that they're entirely different books on the re-read. books best entered blind, with a twist or gradual reveal that is not just surprising, but retroactively rewrites everything you've already read β the meaning, tone, genre, or intention of every page before it.
"No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man."
recs so so welcome!
apart / a part
literary (or literary-leaning) fiction focused specifically on isolation, disconnection, loneliness β and what they teach us about life and humanity.

Suggestions in any genre, and extra tissues, are welcome!
Not like other title text!
Book covers with typography oriented in non-standard alignments, instead of the typical horizontal + left to right text alignment. Or: graphic design is my passion, and today we are learning about text paths πββοΈ. This is an immensely silly List, and always open to suggestionsβvertical text, circular, upside down, anything goes!
these titles are complete sentences!
Well, you have options
Book titles that represent reasons you might go to the doctor, what you might say to each other, or what treatments might be offered to cure your ailments. It's up to you to decide what is whatπ
(This is not a commentary on these books or authors! The focus of this list is purely on the titles---but if you find a favorite new read here, I'd love to knowπ€)
emotionally restrained narrators
fiction where a composed, detached voice conceals its own turmoil, or circles a truth it cannot name, drawing the readerβs hungry gaze toward the silences, each one heavy with unspoken meaning.
itβs all in what is not said.
recs welcome as always :)
Hey You!
Books written in or featuring 2nd person POV
Grief is The Thing
Books where grief is personified, given a body, a voice, or a shape, to explore how loss lives alongside us.
sad girl litfic starter pack
the warm, fragmented interiors of women navigating emotional turmoil, relational dysfunction, identity crises, and existential malaise. intense, immersive, atmospheric, and deeply felt. stories of mundanity and despair, but also of a different beauty, some subtler strength. let's wallow freely and without shame.
note: open to recs, but those focused on interiority rather than romance (e.g. not Normal People)
A Literary Journey Through Grief
Grief as one of the main topics
A Journey Through the Self
A compilation of books (mostly fiction) in which the main character/s set out on a journey, leading to moments of meditation, introspection, meandering walks through the memory, conflicts with both the self, the path, and others, and ultimately: change, for both the characters and the reader. In these novels, the journey is more important than the destination.
Recommendations are welcome!
Less-Recommended Female-Written Fantasy
less of the usual culprits if you please!
palate cleansers
quick reads under 150 pages that are a little unconventional and not too dense, but will still fire up your brain!! to ward off a reading slump and refresh your palate.
Feels like melting
Herein lies the liminal, the eerie. A seven part series documenting a single day and wide green fields void of any living beings. Reality is a train that has left long ago, and you are a post apocalypse zombie. Derealisation abounds and reality is a solid thing we can't grasp. Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable. For the twelfth housers out there.
Will update the more I read
Ursula K. Le Guin Prize π Shortlists
Books that have been shortlisted for the Ursula K. Le Guin Prize for Fiction. I compiled this list because the criteria (and Le Guin's works) resonate with me:
"The Prize will be given to a writer whose work reflects the concepts and ideas that were central to Ursulaβs own work, including but not limited to: hope, equity, and freedom; non-violence and alternatives to conflict; and a holistic view of humanityβs place in the natural world."
Weβre All Gonna Die
Apocalyptic and/or post apocalyptic books
the road not taken
books about lost chances, 'what ifs', and the lives that might've been. nostalgia and regret are two sides of the same coin: a lingering, a dwelling, on a past you can't return to.
Literary Fiction that reads almost like poetry
Works of literary fiction that blur the line between poetry and prose.
Titles that hurt π₯π₯
Whether you know what the book is about or not, some titles hit like a punch to the gut.
