JK Rowling is a bigot who uses her platform to hurt transfolks and other marginalized groups (plus she literally just quoted Mein Kampf on the bird site). If you're still supporting her in 2025, don't bother talking to me.

A collection of Swedish classics that have been translated to English, including some more modern classics. First I added classics I'm familiar with myself and then I went down a rabbit hole looking at a couple of lists online and the recently established cultural canon of Sweden. I've made an effort to add diversity where I can but as you can imagine it's quite lacking, especially in works that have been translated to English. I've also excluded poetry for now as that's not my thing.

Acclaimed or well known books from Scandinavia. Only works that have been translated to English. General vibes are dark, depressive books, some fairytales and crime novels.

Books where one or more characters think about taking the ultimate step, arguing for or against it, assessing the action and its consequences, or seeing it as a viable route to take.
