These books defined my childhood and still hold up to this day. Dystopian stories have been so influential in my life and as I get older my perspective continues to shift and the book becomes more and more dynamic. Deeper themes are embedded in books for kids, and these ones sparked deeper reflections for me -- as well as just being fun! A bunch of these aren't typical "dystopian" books and they span across genres but they all evoke the same feeling for me. I will keep updating as I think of more! Also I literally begged my parents for a bow and arrow after I read the Hunger Games lolllll

I work at a bookstore and sometimes I bring people into the middle grade/ya section and am like...hey...I know we are above the age of 13, but trust me, these are amazing 10/10 and you should read. These are some of those books :)

Also feel free to suggest your favs too! Especially the ones that you never hear anyone talk about!!

The young adult dystopian books of the late 2000s to late 2010s that are/were super popular. Primarily female main character (occasional male main character) taking down some corrupt government after the fall of civilization. Might have missed some though so this will be an updating list!
