Recs if you like Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, Vol. 1...

JK Rowling is a bigot who uses her platform to hurt transfolks and other marginalized groups (plus she literally just quoted Mein Kampf on the bird site). If you're still supporting her in 2025, don't bother talking to me.

"The end is already written. Your actions are up to you, you can choose to get off this ride whenever. We both know you won't do it." Books with this vibe

This is like literary sorbet, books that are simple, sweet, and pretty easy to digest when you want to turn your brain off, decompress after a big, intense book, or break out of a reading slump.

I'm including books where a character's presence is minimal and every character, conflict, and theme leads back to them. Their absence feels loud. Their past decisions shape the present.

Open for recommendations that meet these parameters 💓 I haven't read all the books in this list but feel fairly confident about their inclusion here, if you believe one of these doesn't fit feel free to discuss in the comments

Cultural phenomenon mangas that have become global household names over the years. All of these series have defined or impacted the animanga culture globally, in one way or another. From international movie releases, live-action adaptations, and instantly recognisable titles, these are the mangas to read if you want to sound like you know what you're talking about. Mainstream? Starter pack? Maybe, but they're pop culture icons for a reason. Believe it!

Suggestions and discussions welcome!!

Following the public news of Manga One/Shogakukan hiring convicted sex offenders under new pen names, these manga creators have pulled their work from the Manga One platform and/or have otherwise condemned Shogakukan as a publisher, spoken out against the offenders, and voiced support for the victims.

D&D-esque inspired list. Ive seen a bunch but not exactly what I was looking for, which is essentially, "rag-tag team of misfits with different powers/strengths go on a quest and get into shenanigans" I.e. Legends and Latte wouldn't fit here because they're not questing. Also avoiding lit r.p.g like Dungeon Crawler Carl cause that feels like cheating 😝

Manga, Manhwa, Manhua, etc that warms the soul even if we're sobbing at the same time.

Manga about reconnecting with your community and the physical world. There's a real tactile sense of place here, even with the occasional fantasy elements.

It's free comic books day, and we love comics and graphic novels every day, so here, have over 150 of our favorite graphic novels starring queer characters. (This list is presented by Duck Prints Press, the indie publisher focused on publishing queer art and stories by queer creators! A group of us collaborate to make these recommendations.)

My favourite fiction books with officially autistic and/or ADHD, or autistic and/or ADHD coded characters. Will only put first books for a series. Will add YA if I feel it's enjoyable for adults who don't read much or any YA. "Non official" neurodivergence means we are interpreting, which is always subjective. Criticism can be left in the comments. If you want to recommend a book, you're also welcome to do so in a comment. I will update this list as more favourites come up :)

A vibes-based list themed after Legend of Zelda.

Inspo: perhaps the most iconic start to a Zelda game, the Deku Tree himself, and the plot surrounding him. Themes: naivety, whimsy, hope, the passage of time, grand beginnings, family secrets.

Manga that have anime adaptations.

Mangas where the main characters partake in their own epic journeys, where they travel far and wide. Whether it's to battle for the kingdom or forging their own path through their fantastical world, they take us along for the ride! ☆ "It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to."

• J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings
