This list is a community project, I asked in the club and received multiple suggestions which I then added onto a list: fiction and nonfiction, fantasy, contemporary, sci-fi, the main theme is just hope. Some people said their recommendation might not fit very well but I added it anyways.

Also, in the og post, I mentioned The Good Place and if people have recommendations tending to that, so some books are related to that.

Books where someone, at some point, lets out a breath they didn’t know they were holding. I fully intend to update this every time I come across this line, but let me know which ones are missing in the comments!

books that just feel like a warm hug after a long day, but don't have romance subplots :) funny, cute, engaging - they have it all. but no kissing (forehead kisses are always welcomed, of course)

fiction books with a main character or prominent side character that fits the D&D Wizard class! here for the studying ancient magical texts, the hurling fireballs left and right, the trying to seem like the wisest of your orb-pondering buds! recs and input welcome!

books w sense of humor (or voice) that's A) so subtle and cleverly disguised you could blink and miss it B) so blatant it's like being hit over the head C) so outrageous it's honestly just absurd D) drier than the sahara desert E) rather tongue-in-cheek F) all (or at least more than one) of the above

(some are more obvious than others since some are clearly intended to be satirical and others were just written in such a dry voice it made me chortle)

protagonists with amnesia or memory loss trying to figure out what happened/is going on

these are all cozy fantasy that I've read and am alr thinking about rereading

Because the best books will have swords wielding heros (or villains/antiheroes) that have the most unfortunate luck (that you can only laugh at).
