Herland is a utopian novel from 1915, written by feminist Charlotte Perkins Gilman. The book describes an isolated society comprised entirely of Aryan women who reproduce via parthenogenesis (asexual reproduction). The result is an ideal social order, free of war, conflict and domination. It first appeared as a serial in Perkin's monthly magazine Forerunner.

This was an interesting read … designed to examine and define gender roles, I think it’s more of a study in human resilience and psychology, but either way, fascinating at times.
It could also be dull at times though, and overall, nothing really happened.
I’m not sure if I’ll read on in the series, I am not really curious enough to do so, but … haven’t ruled it out either.
3.5 stars, overall.

This is an odd production. There are long pauses between chapters, and at the end of every single chapter, the narrator lists the author’s name and book title. Then they do it again at the start of each chapter. There’s also some background noise throughout. It seems to be a different narrator for each chapter. Not an ideal listening experience.
