Just made a zine for TRReadthon 🎉 so if someone could ping me (!!!) by replying to this so I remember to come back & check against the list for missing titles when I get home….that would be so helpful. I did some digging so I’m sure I’ve got some, even in my tabs that are still open ✨

I‘d suggest ‚The Appendix‘ by Liam Konneman and ‚Stone Butch Blues‘ by Leslie Feinberg (haven‘t finished that one yet, but it‘s great so far) :)

4

Ooh wow The Appendix sounds like a hard hitting read. And ofc, I even have Stone Butch Blues on my tbr that definitely needs added!! Thank you! 😊

3

It can be a little intense at times but it‘s a quick read (72 pages) and it’s not all negative. I’d say it‘s totally worth it. I only picked it up by chance and I‘m so glad I did! If I find anything else I‘ll let you know :) (also thank you for making this list, I already found some books I want to read!)

I'm glad you reccomended it because it sounds great! And I'm glad you found some reccs from this list! I've done lots of searching over the years for trans book/authors since I've done the TRR the last few years, so I have even more suggestions to add, I just need to find the time 🤣

3

Please do we are desperate for them all. 🥰🤤

2

I'm up to almost 100 on the list and am still on the hunt for more 😊

Love After the End, edited by Joshua Whitehead, is a collection of 2S short stories by 2S Indigenous authors. I realize 2S isn't exactly the same as trans, but I understand there's some overlap in identities and experiences, so I figured it's worth the consideration at least. And if you haven't read it yet, I'll be super surprised, cuz it's totally your kind of book!

3

Absolutely! I've read Johnny Appleseed by Whitehead and really enjoyed it. A collection edited by him definitely sounds exactly like my kind of read!

2

Yeah, I'm kinda shocked you haven't read it yet, considering how quickly you tend to jump on books like this! LOL! Now I just hope there's an edition available in your area! Do many Turtle Island Indigenous books make it across the pond?

2

I definitely have to read it! My TBR is ridiculous 😭🤣

Not as many as I'd like, it's very hard to find Indiginous books that aren't in the fiction mainstream, e.g. a copy of 'In My Own Mocassins' basically doesn't exist here for much less than £25 plus delivery, even second hand (but I plan to spend a libro.fm credit on it soon 👀)

2

Also...Sarah Gailey is trans? Like, the hippo heist author?

3

The author of the American Hippo duology, yeah, they're non binary! I enjoyed 'Just Like Home' by them 😊

If you’re accepting graphic novel reccomendations I highly recommend my favorite little poetic comic : My Body Unspooling, as Leo Fox is trans which was a happy coincidence find.

3

There is also Boy Island, also by Leo Fox which is much more substantial.

2

These look great! I have now added them 😝

2

I was so excited to see some Leo Fox on this list 🤩

3

This was the first I've heard of his work, now I can't wait to read it!!!

1

Love Lives Here by Rowan Jetté Knox is really good. It's about his kid and spouse transitioning. After the book was published under his dead name, he came out as trans himself.

2

Added this to the list (and my own very long tbr 😝)

https://pagebound.co/lists/0007455e-5f58-45a6-90b3-d31da5ed8867 if you need more nonfic recs!! also 31% overlap already iktr 🤪

2

Wow, what a great list! Stone Butch Blues looks very interesting. I've never read a memoir, so that seems like a good place to start! I'll recommend Bad Habit by Alana S. Portero (originally La Mala Costumbre in spanish), both the main character and the author are trans :)

2

Ooo thank you for the rec! 💜

Added even more suggestions in time for the Trans Rights Readathon next week!!!
