Love this list so much! It’s so diverse and I’ll be adding a lot of these to my TBR, thanks for your work in curating!

And really appreciate how inclusive the title and description is of all sapphics, especially since I’ve noticed nowadays many don’t realize that “lesbian” was originally an umbrella term and lots of books were written before the “bisexual” label became popularized and separate. Gender essentialist/abolitionist trends have also wrongly erased the importance of butchfemme as “heteronormative”, as well as the perpetual participation of bisexuals in collectively building these lesbian/sapphic cultures! It’s very refreshing to come across accounts where all of this nuance is well understood! 😊

definitely agree with everything you said!! it's so important to be inclusive always & as a nonbinary femme lesbian, i very much understand the nuance of a traditionally-gendered identity being viewed and celebrated from a non-gendered lens, especially when it comes to lesbian identities and all they encompass. i feel it's so important to spotlight those more unique experiences such as those of trans lesbians as well as lived realities such as those of bipoc lesbians aka the whole reason i created this list! i'm so happy to hear the intent & message is clear with this list & am so excited that i helped add some books to your tbr! hehe def lmk if you ever need any help with anything lesbian history/sapphic hehe 🪄💗

Yes!! What you said about traditionally gendered identity vs diverse viewpoints is so well put. As a fellow PoC, highlighting and validating different cultures and their unique approaches to lesbian/sapphic gender & sexuality (with hearty nonbinary, multigender, transmasc and transfem inclusion) matters so much, especially after losing so much to colonialism! Loved your Tumblr and IG as well! 😊
