I think the genre is YA murder mystery
I've been wondering if it's just that I've read all of the good ones or if I'll love the ya mystery genre overall. Tbh I've never heard of any others.
The Naturals is really excellent in terms of characterization, world building, descriptions, plot, solvability/misdirection... it could be read as tell-not-show in parts but it fits the POV character. My only real critique of it is its unfairly stigmatizing in the way it uses mental illness-related terms/concepts at times (though again, fits the character)
