This book just will not end. I'm seeing elements (of what I can remember) of the second movie in this second half of the book and I can see where the rest of the book is going but damn, this book is way too long.

  • Does anyone know anything about tarot?

I'm currently planning on creating a tarot round for a readathon I host over on Discord, but I think I may have slightly bitten off more than I can chew. Does anyone on here use tarot cards to choose what they read or provide different kinds of prompts/ direction for their tbr? I'm hoping to have 2 prompts for each card, and I'm calling the first prompt Upright and the second Reversed. But, I'm wondering how important it is for them to be opposites to each other? I've made Upright a reading prompt and Reversed a reading-related life prompt (read outside etc.). Does it matter too much, or is there a certain protocol for this? I'm an absolute novice here, but I'm willing to learn! example: Major Arcana: The Sun Upright: Read a graphic with a sunny main character. Reversed: Read a graphic outside in the sun.

26/09/2025 3 ⭐ I really wanted to love this because it sounded so cool, but it just wasn't for me. It wasn't bad, but I doubt I'll ever think about it again.

I'm ngl, when I'm actively reading this I'm flying through it and it's a super quick read but I'm still pretty bored. I love the idea of this world but the cover and description definitely makes this book seem cooler than it is! I genuinely think that if I wasn't listening on audiobook I would've DNFd just because I would have completly forgtotten I was reading it tbh.

  • Book subscription boxes worth it?

Being part of BookTube, I’ve seen so many book subscriptions being unboxed, filled with new releases, gorgeous special editions and all kinds of cute bookish goodies. There are so many options out there: FairyLoot, Illumicrate, Book of the Month, Locked Library... just to name a few.

So I’m curious; which one(s) do you subscribe to, and do you feel like they’re worth the money?

I’m based in the Netherlands, and honestly, the shipping costs make a lot of these boxes quite expensive, therefore I'm curious.

And are there any fellow Dutch readers here with tips or recommendations for more affordable (or local) options?

  • How did you set up your library?

Hey all, Pagebound newbie here! I'm curious about how everyone set up their library, I'm guessing most of you imported finished books from somewhere else, but then do you use the shelves or some other system, or do you just leave your library be?

This is my first time using a site for cataloguing my reading and personally I'm having the time of my life adding books to my finished list. At first I though I'd just add some things I've read recently, but then while exploring the site I kept finding books I'd read at some point and now I'm just adding anything and everything that I've ever read, and it's been such a fun journey down memory lane!

Thanks to it my library is now a huge mess though, because I'm adding books I read last week simultaneously with books I read 10 years ago.. I'm still considering if I wanna add books I read as a young kid, and I decided not to add mangas/comics although I've seen them around, all in all exciting times for me haha

Is anyone else doing anything similar?

PS. I'm so glad I found this site, love you all!

  • Book Plan

I don't have a book plan. I never have. I read whatever book "speaks" to me next. Or if a book I waitlisted is finally ready then I typically read that one next. I have also recently created an online wheel and spin it for when I'm ready for my next read. Helps to randomize it and adds a little whimsy. How do others go about creating a plan? Is it kinda random like me or do you pair similar books one after the other or put a short book after a long? What is your thought process?

Thoughts on Libby removing their Delay Hold feature

I have always been a heavy user of the ā€œdelay holdā€ feature on Libby because I like having holds ready but I’m also a mood reader. How do other people feel about the recent change to holds suspending instead of having the option to delay? I honestly don’t even understand if it’s that different, but my first response was a bit of panicšŸ˜… I also saw suspended holds lapse after one year and I know for a fact that will affect my holds at some point (maybe it already did and I didn’t notice?). I have quite a few cards on Libby so my account is already pretty chaotic, but I’m curious how other readers feel about it.

On the positive side, I bet it will help holds move faster and cut down on delays a bit.

  • Throne of Glass Reading Order

I want to start the Throne of Glass series at some point, but I’ve heard there are multiple reading orders.. For example, some people will start with Assassin’s Blade, while others will read in publication order. Then, there’s deciding whether or not to do the tandem read! Any advice for someone who’s very confused on where to start?? :)

  • I’m bringing back my scooby-doo themed readathon!! Will you join me?? šŸ¶šŸ“–šŸŽƒšŸ‘»šŸ”Ž

I’ve been running a Scooby-Doo themed redathon ever since 2021, except for 2024, because, for health reasons, I wasn’t able to run it. But, I’m finally bringing it back! I am not someone who can handle scary things, but I am someone who LOVES Scooby Doo, which is very much my scary limit lol.

You can find out more about the readathon here: https://allonsythornraxxbooks.com/2025/09/21/scoobathon-round-4/, but the gist of it is that this round runs from October 1st to 31st, and there are 5 reading prompts. But, for anyone who wants the extra challenge, we also have a bingo board and a buddy read!! You can join our little community on Discord here: http://discord.gg/d8sVV9e5nP

  • Brandon Sanderson Recs

Hi everyone! I’ve been thinking of getting into reading Brandon Sanderson books (people irl have been recommending me his titles). But I’m not big into fantasy and as I understand it, he’s a fantasy author…? I do read fantasy, of course, but it’s not a genre I tend to gravitate towards. Are there any books of his that are relatively easy to get into as a beginner in fantasy? Epic/high fantasy seems a bit too daunting for me at the present.

  • Fantasy readers, what’s the best gateway book? ✨

Okay fantasy readers, I need your help.

Confession time: the only fantasy I’ve ever read is Harry Potter. I’ve always been kind of intimidated by the genre with the huge worlds, the lore, the giant book sizes, but at the same time I really want to dip my toes in and see what’s out there beyond Hogwarts.

So if you had to recommend just a couple of fantasy books for someone who’s brand new to the genre, what would you pick? I’m looking for something immersive but approachable, where I won’t get lost in 50 pages of worldbuilding before the story kicks in.

Basically, what’s your ā€œgateway fantasyā€ recommendation, the book that could turn a fantasy newbie into a fantasy fan?

  • When do you DNF/Pause?

Hey yall! I’m currently slogging through a book for weeks now and I just feel like I’m never gonna finish it. It’s made me read less because I’ve told myself I can’t start anything else until I finish this book but I just feel like I’ve been dragging my feet on it! The book isn’t boring and was recommended by a coworker so I’d like to finish, but I just don’t know if it’s time to cut my losses and just pause it right now.

So! My question for everyone is: when do you admit defeat and DNF/pause a book?

  • Are e-readers worth it?

I've never owned an e-reader but I'm considering getting one. My main reason is for portability, I commute to uni so it would be nice to have something to do during my travels. (Also, my bookshelf has officially ran out of space so I'm having to put books into my clothes drawers TT).

Are there any distinctive pros and cons I should be aware of? Is there a wide range of books that you can access?

And, is there any particular e-readers you guys would recommend šŸ™‚ā€ā†•ļø? I don't have a massive budget so I'll be prioritising affordability over premium features for the most part.

I'm completely unfamiliar with how they work so any and all information is welcome šŸ’›.
