I havenât read it and canât tell from the summaryâis a major character a significant religious figure (understand some denominations donât consider all clergy) in space or does it just have a major theme of religion?
The titular Stranger started his own religious group at some point of the novel. He was human but grew up on Mars and his philosophy was influenced by Martians. And of course, novel has a huge religious theme. It's older work so it's a bit rough on the edges.
