How do you all organize use your home library? Alphabetical by title, by author, by genre, or another method? I’m really curious to know what everyone does. TIA!

Hi all! I spent part of the morning looking for a book that barely exists on the internet, and finally emailed the library to see if they could get their hands on it. I got an email back in 30 minutes saying "we ordered it through ILL, we'll let you know when it is here, have a good day!" I have said it many times before, but I love librarians, they are amazing :) I wanted to make a thread for people to share their favorite moments with a librarian, or appreciation for all they do! :)

Have you ever tried making any of the recipes included in fiction books? And were the recipes any good?
I haven’t tried any yet but I recently remembered that for example Jenny Colgan includes recipes in the end of her Little Beach Street Bakery and Meet Me at the Cupcake Cafe and I started wondering which more books have recipes and if anyone had tried these.
I’m currently in an ambitious baking mood and maybe this is the thing I should go for?

I’m thinking about resurrecting some DNFs ⚰️ but changing the format. For example I DNF’d the Song of Achilles audiobook 2 hrs in but am thinking to try the ebook instead now. Some of the books on my list are just so loved I wonder if they are worth another go. Has this method worked for anyone? 📚

Went on a super fun indie bookstore crawl today and enjoying the other posts of folks who did the same!
We were at a large bookstore with a sizable (dare I say, majority?) section dedicated to all genres of used books. My fave!
But it occurred to me that everyone probably has different methods for tackling the used books stacks!
Do you look for specific titles or authors? Only pull out books with titles that jump out at you? When I do this I feel like I'm likely missing out on some great books, but it would be impossible to read the back cover of every single book on the shelves😭

Just a fun simple question I don’t think I’ve seen someone ask yet on here!
I just read Katabasis, and Peter Murdoch made me kick my feet and go “heeeheeeheeeeee” ✨🐎🧚♀️ I love a nerdy and gangly guy. I also, however, would die for a glimpse of Cassian (ACOTAR) in real life. A CRUMB of attention from him.
It’s so fun when a character feels so real that you can’t help but blush when they do something! Who makes you fangirl??? ✨🩷🤪🫶

What's the lowest average rating you would consider reading?
I give most books I read a 3 star rating, but I was searching for books the other day and realised that I didn't add books to my TBR if they had a rating of less than 3.5, so I'm wondering if I need to rethink my rating system.
Update: I'm so glad I asked this question, your responses have helped change the way I approach my reading choices. I've always known what I like, but I've found it hard to own my feelings for fear of judgment. I let the numerical value of books impact whether I am proud of liking them. Also, I've felt awkward about holding my hand up and stating that I didn't like a book if it's popular because I didn't want to rain on anyone's parade. Hearing everyone here being so confident about liking what they like, and accepting the subjectivity of books has really helped me challenge the black and white thinking holding me back from book joy. Thanks 😊

Now that Sunday is coming to an end… which book was your favourite this week? How was your weekend? Which books are you looking for to read next week? 🥰 I have finished Poets Square and it was AMAZING 🩷 It had been on my TBR for months and it I didn’t expect to like it as much as I did. I also spent a lot of time reading today and it feels so good. But I feel like I have to move my body now so I’m trying to gather some strength to go to the gym 😭 Also I’m currently reading The Life Impossible by Matt Haig and I actually really like it 🥰 It feels great to read something I enjoy after having to DNF many books the past few weeks…
