French Modern Classics Starter Pack I
Based on my original post on having quests for French Literature, here is the third list of a series to remediate it :) Thanks to everyone that participated in the discussion and helped me put these together!
This list only covers books published in the 20th century. See comments for more info on the methodology I used!

While curating the lists, here is what I considered:
- Each book must be available in English and have a 1:1 correspondence to the original piece (no compilation editions)
- A defined time period to make contemporary classics shine and also allow more diversity let's be honest ;)
- Authors of French Nationality only (Francophonie quest to come!) and no repeat in a list
- Diversity in the list as in time period, author gender and type of piece (play, novel, poem, essay,...)
- Level of general interest, so for prolific authors I prioritized books that were already in another quest and/or had a lot of readers
