    Now, I'm not going to badmouth Jackson's movies cause they are fantastic.

    But something I think they lost is the whimsy in Tolkiens books. Treebeard is a funny character! He's goofy and strange! And not in the comic relief way either, cause he is not alone in being that way.

    Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

    I'll be honest and say I was unsure whether to continue the series after book 3. Not that it was horrible or anything but it did not really speak to me.

    This one saved that. The level is more fun, there's some neat character-work and it finally went full on into the plot development that I have hoped for since the first book.

    Looking forward to the next one. A lot.
