Being reminded a lot recently of the childhood job hope of working in a bookshop, so I’m curious what other people would have either as their overall dream bookshop speciality or as their department? Also, people who already work in a bookshop/library, do you have a speciality already?
I would love to have a combo bookshop and craft space with themed patterns or fabric/wool for the books every month. For a speciality, I love the fantasy/scifi so being able to do themed displays for the new releases would be so much fun!

Do yall have a favourite word and get really excited when you see it written in a book because most of my kindle highlights are either the word petrichor or iridescent? Petrichor is also my favourite smell in the world 🌧️☀️and iridescent is just a fabulous word 💜💙🩷
What are everyone’s favourite words (in any language) and do feel free to leave the definitions too because we can all learn some new words today ✨
Have a lovely Sunday whatever you’re doing ✨

Every so often, there’s a book that breaks through barriers and smashes glass ceilings in terms of representation. This has got me thinking about what I personally wish to see representing or mirrored in books in particular. I love C.G. Drews and Don’t Let the Forest In was the first book I read and really felt as though asexuality was something other than a joke or a character flaw and it meant the world to me knowing that I could read a book about a character like me on a level that so deeply resonated with me.
What do you all wish to see more in books? Character types? Plots? Situations? Or even if you think there’s been a book that failed in trying to deliver the representation it promised to show?

Here on our dear Pagebound Club we often talk about adaptations. Transposing a story from a written media to visual one is no easy task, and a lot of choices need to be made. How to render internal monolog, how to keep a good pace when you only have 2 hours to put 500 pages of content ? But now let's ask the real question : which show or movie would you love to read about ? If you could get a novel, or a trilogy, out of any show or movie ? Get the internal dialogs, feeling everything from the inside ?
And even more crucial question : is there a show/movie based on a book – not perfectly accurate adaptation – you would want to read a new book ?
I'm asking because of the NBC show Hannibal based on the book Red Dragon by Thomas Harris. They took a lot of liberty with the scenario and I'm OBSESSED with the final product. I love everything about the show, the photography, the actors, the editing, but when i tell you i'd be ready to give my soul to read the story from the inside 👀

I have been here for 2 months and I have noticed that there are many people of older age groups who find characters annoying based on their behaviour especially the YA fantasy type genre...
To clarify, I am 18 and i have been reading since 7yrs so it's not like I don't have reading experience and due to that I don't find characters annoying or their behaviour weird. I have just observed that people who are older than 25 have less tolerance to teenage fantasy characters and their (maybe dumb decisions and thoughts, especially the inner thoughts which leads the fore mentioned decisions) which me being a teenager can relate to and understand to a certain point. Pls note: I am just curious and no way disrespecting anyone and the main reason behind my post is to understand how everyone feels. That being said, pls don't be mean, and gently disagree!🤗

Hi ! I'd like to read as many post Apocalyptic books as possible, especially if there are Zombies in it. I have obviously added "I am Legend" and "World War Z" on my tbr but I'd love your recs ! If you can also give a few reasons why (without spoilers) it would be perfect!
Thanks !

I started reading books in English about 3 years ago and since then I feel guilt and shame when I read something in my native language (russian). My argument is that I live in an English speaking country therefore I must read only in English to improve my language skills. However, it makes reading feel like a chore even if the book I'm reading is interesting. Does someone have the same experience? What do you think about it?
