I can’t stand it. Constantly over describing food, and the setting. Author must be obsessed with the color blue and tomatoes. There’s a lot of repetition too, like when the cloud bears appear she spends so much time describing how misty they are etc, and then goes, “the bear wafted over, like a cloud” or something like that. And that was the last straw for me.
I was vibing with the cozy atmosphere for a while but it ended up way too flowery and descriptive for literally every single thing, even the wonderful graphite pencils.
Also, even though she escaped this violent attack in the beginning, everything else perfectly goes her way and is so easy. This is my first “cozy” read and maybe it’s just not for me?

Although I didn’t like this, I would still recommend if you enjoy cozy reads. And maybe not the audiobook.

Now that we’re in November and the holiday season is approaching us, I’m looking for some bookish gifts for friends/family members! They have a list of books, but I’m also looking for something a little different than just a book and maybe a bit more personal. I’m curious to know, if you’ve gotten bookish gifts, what’s been your favorite? Also, what’s on everyone’s wish list this year?

Hi everyone, I'm realizing right now more than ever how busy my life has become balancing university and work as well as household chores and other things.
How do you guys make time to read? And mayve even more importantly, how do you get the energy to read?

Yesterday, my water bottle leaked into my bag and damaged the book I’m reading… It wasn’t that bad, you can still read all of it, but it’s definitely been left with some scars.
I’m just gonna keep reading my damaged copy, but I know some people take this sort of thing really seriously. Things like cracking spines or dog-earing pages don’t bother me either, but I understand the feeling of needing it to look perfect.
Has something like that ever happened to you? Would you replace it if you could still read the words?

As the titles says, I’ve DNF my first book in… years, I’m a recovering “hate reader” that finished every book regardless. I blame it on being an English Major😬 There were just too many aspects of the book that I couldn’t get into & the MC wasn’t very… likable or relatable. Just a conflict in preferences, I think. Part of me feel so free, now that I know I don’t have to pick up the book again, but another part of me feels guilty. Why does DNF feel so bad even though forcing myself to read felt just as bad? Any remedies for making the ick go away? Thanks xoxo

A collection of the pilot books for popular series, for those of us who love to follow a character's journey for as long as an author will let us! Some of the below series have heavily debated starting points and book read orders--in those cases the pilot was selected based on what seems to be the most popular approach.

What is the story behind your username (if there is one) and is there a ‘proper’ pronunciation for it if it’s not pretty self-explanatory? I’m so curious sometimes when I see certain usernames and I’m like “am I saying it right? What does it mean??”
Mine is my first and middle name mushed together 😂 And while I spell my name with only one ‘s’, it’s pronounced the same as Alyssa (you’d not believe how many ppl struggle 😩)

It is a personal feeling for me, but reading challenges actually kill the fun of being a reader and cause reading to become a competition. I tried reading Horror throughout October as a reading challenge I set up for myself and being restricted to that almost ruined reading for me. In the third week I had given up and was happy to do so.
I don't understand turning reading into a "Quest", it might help some people who are genre readers to collect their thoughts and go back to their stacked books and I see that being a great thing but again, isn't the best way to read just picking up whatever is closest to you? And I do not mean reading challenges over Pagebound itself, it's something in general.
I just wanted to get everyone's opinions on how they feel about it. Beyond organizing your reading list, what else does a reading challenge do to you all? Would reading challenges fundamentally restrict genre explorations? Hope this post isn't offensive to anyone, I do not mean it in that way at all but just inviting points for discussion.
