I've been seeing discourse online that listening to audio books doesn't count as reading I count audio books
What are you guys thoughts on that?

Curious what yalls threshold is for considering a book as ‘read’ if you’re not fully reading it cover to cover.
I’m thinking mostly in terms of non-fiction where certain chapters or sections may not be in line with why you picked up the book. As an example, I’m reading Bringing up Bebe which was written by an American mother living in France detailing her observations in the differences in raising children in each country. It’s part memoir, part child sociology/psych theory and comparison, and I have been heavily skimming the memoir components because they don’t interest me much.
Would you consider the book as read if you just get what you want out of it? Or are you a purist where all words in the books need to be consumed to consider it read?

I am finally getting back into reading this, it has been quite awhile, but I have to beat my little brother to finishing the series. Hopefully, I don't get stuck again.

Oh, my, I have no idea where this story is going and I am enthralled. Though it feels less like a fairytale retelling and more like something new on its own. I wonder if it is just retelling a tale I don't know as well.

I love this book. I have reread it so many times. I love this whole world, but especially this book.

In elementary school my friends and I assigned subjects a color. This would often lead to many arguments lol.
For example:
Math- red Social studies- blue Science- purple History- orange ELA- pink
For me it kinda goes:
Romance- pink Fantasy- purple Mystery- brown Science fiction- grey
But there are so many genres I am hoping to hear what colors you would assign to your favorite(s)!!

I am admittedly reading this only because I've read everywhere it's almost required for the stormlight archive and I'm not finding it the most exciting read of the year but I'm enjoying it

I loved the story and the characters, I listened to the audiobook and wasn't able to understand the narrator reading the wee free men. I just couldn't understand them. Otherwise it was fun, cute, heart-warming, and deeply insightful.

This is most definitely a sciencey book it goes indepth on all the current and past research studies it talks about scientific theories and to the untrained person would probably be a really hard and clunky read. I didn't have many issues, but it was slow going.
However, I loved it and I feel like it should be required reading for anyone with a family member that is autistic, male or female, or suspected autism. I think with all the polictizing of autism right now maybe it should be a required reading for everyone. It definitely clears up misinformation and discusses the true research going on behind the scenes.

I am loving this book, the Russian themes and aspects are fantastic. I am listening to the audiobook and the narrator has a slight accent that is perfect. I will say that the switches between character viewpoints are a little abrupt and I sometimes struggle to tell who exactly is the next view point. Especially when they added the third one in.
Edited for spelling.

I now just realized I didn’t even read the description of the book before listening to it. I’m surprised by stuff that was already written in the description 😅
