Eleanor, poor Eleanor. She wanted to be loved and was too open to the house! But really, she was such an unreliable narrator that it was tricky at times to know what was the house and what was her. It made me curious at the end about why she didn't die in the house but rather on the grounds. I really hoped Theo and Eleanor were gonna be into each other but, either because of the house or because of Eleanor's lack of reliability, it seemed out of possibility at the end. Also, the doctor was a butthead. Sending her off alone when even his wife and Arthur knew she shouldn't drive herself, and after he knew she was not well at all. Awful behavior. In the end, wherever she is, I hope Eleanor gets her picnic!

okay! Why did no one care what his sister wanted?? She didn't want to be in the politics so her mom kinda mocked her and then just had her help with stuff anyway. She didn't want to be in the public eye but sacrificed herself for her brother. She loved her boyfriend but broke up with him to spare him dating the president's daughter. She seemed to be in love with both her best friend and Henry's friend, but they didn't even get to have a real moment with that. Anyway, that's my only gripe with the book but as an eldest sibling, it felt like a relatable bummer for her.

Okay, I feel so sick to my stomach, but I also feel like he never treated her like a human unlike what the book description said. He just used her. It made the ending not shocking, but I did feel like it both made sense and was a little rushed in execution (no pun intended!) Did others feel like he ever actually did humanize her or was he always using her for himself? Not sure if anything here is a spoiler so I'll mark it in case.
