i’ve been trying to read more indian books (specifically south indian), but i’m struggling to find a book i connect with. i started a god of small things, but i couldn’t get myself to finish it ☹️

What's a book that you wish had more content avaliable? 🤔

For me it's dinosaur horror. I wish there was more because there is such a good opportunity. Games exist, but I wished more books existed.

I also would like more books about obsessive artists. Like the film Black Swan and Whiplash. If you're looking for a rec like it Boy Parts by Eliza Clark is great.

Anyway yeah scrolling through these posts I do think people would benefit highly from focusing less on if you “like” characters/events or not and just soaking in the story. That’s not what Camus is concerned with at all. (Personally I think it would better serve ppl for most books actually, but ESPECIALLY this one).

So, I literally just found out about the “search by emoji” feature like two days ago 😅 (I rarely use the website), and now it’s been added to the app in the new update, so needless to say, I am very excited!!

When I started to get back into reading this year, I found myself picking up several Superman trade paperbacks, feeling a call back to something I remember from when I was probably five years old: the resounding trumpets of the original Fleischer Superman cartoons from the 1940s that we had on a DVD in a cereal box. But there was something else that was there, something else that that bright red and yellow S called to me with, and that was hope.

Superman has always been my glimmer of hope when things are feeling dire: last July when the latest incarnation came out, I went to go see it with my brother who is only a tangential comic book fan. Back then, sitting in the theater and hearing the music and watching that movie unfold, I felt so much weight come off my shoulders just because Clark kept on going and kept on loving and being there. A lot of people poopoohed on that movie, but as a dad of an almost one year old who was feeling completely lost and underwater and alone in 2025, I felt a warm comfort and familiarity that I hadn't in years - I felt a sense that things were going to be okay.

Getting back to my original point, Superman - and comics in general - have been where I have found my solace as of late: in bright colors and giant sound effects in huge fonts, striking silhouettes and cartoonish villains. And it's those books that give me hope, that things can get better and will be better in the future, especially whenever I look over at my bookshelf and see that S-insignia looking at me. I sometimes think of that interview that Christopher Reeves did back when the original Richard Donner Superman came out where the interviewer asks him "Who is Superman?" and without stopping a beat, Reeves responds with "A friend."

A friend. Not a hero, not a god, not an alien: a friend. A friend who I need a little extra right now as a dad of two under two trying to make sense of what the future is going to hold for my kiddos.

I want to know from you all: what are your hopeful reads or characters from stories? Are there any particular books or other media you go to when you need a lil hope boost, or a character you feel who embodies that idea of hope, of goodness.
