Stalkers, Monsters, Aliens, and the Mafia :D Complex tomato opinions. Biting a tomato like an apple is fine. However....LIKING tomatoes at all is the horrifying part.

    Enjoyment: 4.0Quality: 4.0Characters: 3.5Plot: 4.5

This reads like a love letter to the ocean.

    Includes:

    Jellyfish MMC Dominance/Submission/Exhibitionism ✨Electric✨ Tentacles

FMC has always loved the sea; she grew up near it, on it, and in it. It felt like a part of her, and she grew up to work in conservation.

I've never read an entire story that takes place underwater and honestly you can feel the love for the ocean and creatures in it.

This planet is.....very unkind to humans. FMC fares better than others, as she immediately encounters the MMC who claims her as a mate. However, his culture is very different than ours on Earth. Dominance and submission are ingrained in their culture; especially in public the women must always obey their men.

I like that this is a different take than the 'honor and adore women' culture that is often seen in alien romance.

The MMC is a good guy and cares about FMC. But he still struggles himself, finding the balance between keeping her safe, his cultural expectations, and the need for independence that she obviously has.

This is short, so things happen quickly! We don't get all the details of each MCs growth, and we don't get to see each step of the culture changing as there isn't time for that. It can seem like a bit of a jump and some 'tell not show', especially because in the middle there is a bit of a time skip. But we do see the see the effects of their changing relationship.

Also there is smut quite early (it was important; wasn't just insta-lust!). Then some exhibitionism -

    Read this if:

You love the sea Are vibing dom/sub (w/ punishment) Or a bit of exhibitionism Have a thing for jellyfish Want to see a different take on alien culture

Thanks to the author for the ARC

How do you feel about posting in empty book forums?

How would you feel if a forum have many posts but from the same person? Is it annoying?

I'm reading a book with so little posts in the forum and I feel restricted on -in?- the amount of posts I should make. I don't think it's that much of a problem tbh, I can just do whatever I wanna do as long as its not really too many posts. But I wanna know someone else's opinion on this too.

  • Bringing things to authors at book signings?

I'm going to a book signing tomorrow, and I have something I'd like to give the author as a gift—I do hand embroidery, and I made a small embroidery hoop with a line from the book. Is it weird for me to give her that? I made it with the intention of giving it to her at this event, but if it's weird to do that I'll just keep it for myself, lol. I know I'm overthinking this, but I always get so nervous about going to book signings...it's like I turn into a version of myself that's pure social anxiety 🤦🏼‍♀️

  • What to do with problematic author books?

I hope this is a good forum for this???

I have collected a lot of various books over the years. I am very cognizant about researching authors and publishing companies before I purchase any books. However, I have a small collection of books in a corner of shame on my bookshelf from authors who later on came out as problematic (or in a certain set of files), free books I picked up on the side of the road or in free little libraries I later regret picking up after researching, or gifted/inherited books I again later research and opt not to read.

My question is I feel icky about throwing book away/burning them. I also don't want to spread misinformation or support for problematic authors by donating them. My question is what would be the most ethical way to dispose of these books? donate to the library? hide them away in a box in my attic?
