I love sci-fi & fantasy that's epic yet character focused, with atmospheric prose, morally complex relationships, and intricate world-building.

The vibes are already creepy from the first chapter 👀 and I’m really liking the main character so far though I don’t know much about her yet

I kept wondering why this space opera set tens of thousands of years in the future kept referencing ancient Greece and Rome. There are even gladiators and collosseum fights. Then I read the author was a Classics minor in college... at least it makes sense to me now, though I still find it strange.

Helpful and easy-to-understand overview of how trauma impacts the body and how that's connected with the mind, as well as what solutions are available to heal.

Edit: I'll check some of the background on this author and the book given the comment below.

This is one of those impossible philosophical questions that keeps you thinking. Especially relevant in our interconnected global world where one person's joy and another's suffering are so enmeshed yet so seemingly disconnected.
