DNF at pg 197. This book became pretty boring. I also could not deal with the miscommunication trope. Did not like the MMC. There was no character growth. Reading other reviews told me that miscommunication didn’t improve as the book goes on. Apparently, the ending is good so if you have the patience to push through then maybe do that. I just felt uncompelled to continue, personally. * please disregard grammatical errors due to accessible voice texting. Thanks.

Not a typical romance but in a good way. I’d say this is more literary fiction with a bit of romance. For me, this was a good thing. For big fans of Emily Henry, that love her romance novels, this book may come as a surprise and disappointment since it’s not very romance heavy compared to her other books. I, however, think this is one of the best books that I’ve read by her. Like others have said, it’s “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” meets “Love, Hypothesis.” It’s sweet and the prose is beautiful. It touches on grief and family trauma and the consequences of constantly being under the spotlight with some mystery thrown in. I can’t help but compare it to TJR’s novel because of the similarities. I can’t say what specifically, but something falls flat in this book. It’s missing something. I also don’t particularly care for Insta love but that’s kind of typical for romance novels. Those are the reasons for the star deduction. Overall, I enjoyed this book and I actually liked that it isn’t super romance heavy. I am also not a massive Emily Henry fan so I didn’t have any certain expectations going into this book. If you’re going in expecting the typical Emily Henry romance, then you may be disappointed. 1 🌶️ * please disregard grammatical errors due to accessible voice texting. Thanks!

I can’t for the life of me read this book 😂. I even tried to read along with the audiobook going slowwww (1x speed). That has helped a little bit. I’ve been attempting to read more of it off and on since January but I just can’t comprehend the vocabulary and conversations. I love the movies and am really trying here but I think I might be too dumb lol. I’m determined to stick it out though. Maybe eventually it’ll click or maybe I’m just a moron. 💀

Only 5 pages in and it’s sounding a lot like “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.” It’s still super early though so we shall see. I loved that book.

Incredibly juvenile and cringe. DNF at page 340. Barely lasted that long listening at 3x speed. This was, quite honestly, really bad . This reads like a 13-year-old’s fanfiction. I didn’t mind the dirty jokes or “nerd talk.” The dialogue in general is what made it sound so immature. The FMC was super pick-me and EVERYTHING she did was so quirky and amazing. Literally no other mortal in all of the afterlife could do what she could. Not ONE?! I enjoyed the very beginning of this, and it had so much potential that was completely thrown away. It turned into some terrible self-help and pseudo-parenting book, which also came off as badly researched. There’s insta love and pregnancy/foster trope. Don’t even get me started on calling cancer survivors warriors.. The terrible internal monologue also droned on and on. All of the five star reviews seem to come from TikTok, but you shouldn’t have to watch TikTok videos in order to determine if a book is good or not. I mean, this is a long book at 700 pages. It should speak for itself and it clearly doesn’t. You can give this a try, but I personally would not recommend this to anyone, not even a preteen (even if it didn’t have bad spice). 1 🌶️ * please disregard grammatical errors due to accessible voice texting. I am dragging myself through this book. Absolutely determined to finish it and find out what the hell all these five star reviews are about. I feel like l'm reading a high schooler's creative writing assignment.

This is like a boring self-help and pseudo-parenting book mixed with slow, immature romantasy
